YongWan was listening to the introduction of distinctive economic fishes in the Yangtze River basin
ProfessorZexiaGao was introducing the domesticating circumstances ofwild fish in the Yangtze River basin.
Professors Yong’an Zhang andWeimin Wang introduced theresearchprogress in artificial breedingand aquaculture of distinctive economic fishes in the Yangtze River basin, such as white bream, Odontobutis sinensis, Coreius heterodon, bigmouth grenadier anchovy, Hemibagrus macropterus, Leiocassis longirostris. As Professor Wangintroduced, the artificial breeding technology ofParabramis pekinensis andOdontobutis sinensis had made the great advances, and had already applied to production. The systematic selective breeding ofOdontobutis sinensis has been conducted, and F4 generation showed higher growth speed, which could be a new strain ofOdontobutis sinensis. Yong Wan exchanged ideas extensively on the research progress with the researchers in the fishery research base.
Yong Wan was communicating with the research team of College of Fisheries.
Yong Wan pointed out that the ten-years fishing ban in the Yangtze River basin would certainly transform the industrial structure of aquaculture in Hubei province, and would be also an importantopportunityfor the aquaculture in Hubei province. The domestication ofwild river fishcouldtake account of both the economic benefits and ecological benefits, and meet the demand of people and improve the industrial transformation of fishermen andaquaculturefarmers. Hehoped the college to unite withtherelated research institutions to quicken the research process. Researchers should set out from thefishquality and feeding cost as well as establishing technical specifications, eventually promoting the extensive aquaculture of the selected fish strains. He suggested that the scientific research projects of should derived from the production issues of farmers, and transform the scientific research into realistic productivity. The government was supposed to take a more active part in the scientific research of agriculture from now on.
