Abstract: On the night of September 25th, 2020, Seniorfisheries Officer Dr. Xinhua Yuan from FAODF (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Department of Fisheries) was invited to present at the aquatic products forum of our university. He gave an academic report titled “Global Aquaculture Governance”and provided guidance for the internship of international organizations.

19:00 PM, September 25, the aquatic products forum was held online through Tencent Conference. Senior fisheries Officer Dr. Xinhua Yuan from FAODF (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Department of Fisheries) was invited to present at the aquatic products forum of our university togive an academic report titled “Global Aquaculture Governance” and provide guidance for the internship of international organizations. Over 200 teachers and students took part in the report. The meeting was conducted by Dr. Dapeng Li from College of Fisheries of Huazhong Agricultural University.
Dr. Yuan made a brief introduction of the objective, organization and operation mechanism of FAO. He said that the fundamental objective of FAO is to guide and directinternational community to eliminate hunger, achieve food safety of all humans and ensure that people have regular access to adequate quality food and embrace a positive and healthy life. Afterwards, Dr. Yuan highlighted the primary work, breakthroughs and contributions of FAODF during the global governance of aquaculture. He added that the chief mission of FAODF is to strengthen global governance, enhance the management and technical capabilities of member states and improve the conservation and utilization of aquatic resources. The FAODF aims to promote the realization of sustainable development goals. Finally, Dr. Yuan gave guidancefor studentsinapplying internship opportunities in international organizations such as the United Nations. He expressed that in addition to focusing on students' English proficiency and professional knowledge, FAO also focused on students' comprehensive quality and independent living ability, as well as the diversity of interns' country origin.
After the report, students showed great passion and interest and had active exchanges with Dr. Yuan.
