(correspondent Yaqin Zhong and Yunliang Miu)The fishery college hosted anacademic workshop both online and offline between Huazhong Agriculture University and Hokkaido University and communicated the newest research achievements in aquaculture at 8:00 am on December 6th. Eight scholars from Hokkaido University, Qingdao Agriculture University and Huazhong University were invited to report their research work while another 160 teachers and students attended the workshop .

Professor Pin Nie, Dean of the College of Marine Science and Engineering from Qingdao Agriculture University, reported type I and II interferons (IFNs)’ functions and signal pathways in Mandarin fishSiniperca chuatsi. Professor Kimura Changfu from Hokkaido University and professor Yong’an Zhang from Huazhong Agriculture University did a thorough introduction of their own university and highlighted the latest research achievements from their fishery colleges. They both expressed their willingness to deepen the cooperation.

Subsequently, professor Kenichi Sakai and professor Duzhangmu reported 2 interdisciplinary subjects: drug development in fishery science and the Biomedical Application of collagen fromAcipenser sinensis by-products, respectively. Professor Duzhangmu gave high evaluation on our achievements in aquaculture. Professor Jian Gao reported the Synthesis Mechanism of highly unsaturated fatty acids from three perspectives in freshwater fish species.. Associate professor Xiaojuan Cao discussed the air-breath and polyploid-propagation mechanism usingMisgurnus anguillicaudatus as a model. At last, professor Ijiri Chengbao from Hokkaido University reported his research achievements on “Ovary Development Mechanism of tilapiaOreochroms mossambcus and the Japanese eelAnguilla japonica”.

In the afternoon, twelve graduate studentsfrom the College of Fisheries, HZAU,reported their research in various fields of aquatic science to all the attendees.Ph. D students- Ning Liu, Honghui Guo, andYudong Shen,, andMaster student- Xudong Wangmade the following speeches about the blunt snout breamMegalobrama amblycephala separately:the immune and antibacterial functions of RNasel, the identification of the sex and structural characteristics molecular markers, the survival strategy under chronic ammonia nitrogen exposure, and the development of therelatedSNP sites offish muscle bone. All these reports gave the students a better understandingonthe blunt snout bream. Ph. D studentsXu Zhou and Guanghui Chen respectively introduced the expression and functional differences of interleukin 17 A/F1, 2 and 3 and the mechanism of cholesterol metabolismmediated bymiR-144-induced highfat inyellow catfishPelteobagrus fulvidraco’s liver. The report ofPh. D studentBing Sun and that ofDr. Xiaojuan Cao echoed mutually, which demonstrated the preliminary results of the fn1 gene of Loach in the view of tentacles.Master studentMengqi Xie compared the intestinal flora of C. cristatum at different growth stages, and Ph.D studentBo Liang analyzed the bleeding mechanism ofgrass carpCtenopharyngodon idella hemorrhage from the perspective of inducible nitric oxide enzyme mediated endothelial cell apoptosis. Ph.D student Aijie Mo and Master student Chenhao Hu demonstrated the effects of full life cycle exposure to water environmental arsenite on reproductive performance of male and female zebrafish and the mechanism of anti-seasonal propagation ofMicropterus salmoides. Finally,Ph. D student Yan Gao reported SVCV-N protein escaping fish innate immunity by promoting Viperin—sv1 ubiquitination degradation. During the wholeworkshop,All the attendees were very active and professional in asking and answering questions. In the end of the workshop ,Professor Chunsheng Liumade a summary on the performance of all the students andencouraged thestudents to activelyparticipate in such international workshop s to enhance their abilities in all aspects.
