International Workshop on Green Aquaculture was held online

(Correspondents: Yaqin Zhong, Yunliang Miao)On December 9th, the 2020 International Conference on Green Aquaculture and the three-minute reportfinal of graduate students from College of Fisheries, Huazhong Agricultural University, were held online. More than 180 teachers and students attended the meeting.

Six experts and scholars from Lincoln University in New Zealand, Khon Kaen University in Thailand, Asia Pacific Fisheries Network Centre, Malaysia Sabah University and Huazhong Agricultural University were invited to give presentations. 14 graduate students gave the final three-minute mini-presentations.The seminar was chaired by Associate Professor Han Liu.

During the presentation, Professor Ravi Gooneratne from Lincoln University first introduced the sources of aquatic pollution and then pointed out the effectiveness and prospect of using three biomarkers (biochemical, histopathology and new electrophysiological techniques) to detect aquatic pollution as well as related toxins.

Dr Xi Zhang from Huazhong Agricultural University introduced the synthetic properties of sturgeon Collagen and its potential applications in biomedicine.

Associate Professor Bandit Yuangsoi from Khon Kaen University offered insights into the current problems and future directions of aquatic feed through a report titledRoad to reform Aquafeed in Thailand for Sustainability.

Researcher Derun Yuan from the Asia Pacific Fisheries Network Center reviewed the history of aquaculture in the Asia Pacific region and analyzed the current status and trends of sustainability in aquaculture.

Corresponding to Derun Yuan, Associate Professor Zhigang Shen from Huazhong Agricultural University introduced the current situation of aquaculture and looked forward to the future development of aquaculture.

Finally, by using a series of fascinating images, Associate professor Fui Fui Ching from Malaysia Sabah University made an explanation on how aquaculture development in Saba.

Due to students' active questioning and the reporters’professional and patient answering, students had deeper understanding of the relevant knowledge.

At the end, a total of 14 graduate students from the Huazhong Agricultural University participated in the final of the graduate three-minute mini-presentations and made wonderful reports on various aspects of fisheries. The final result was determined by the domestic and foreign scholars.
